We are:

Tasso is a fast-growing Seattle-based startup that delivers at-home diagnostic testing to those who need it most. Tasso was founded to find a better way to collect blood than a painful fingerstick or time-consuming venous draw. Since then, our products have been used in pharmaceutical clinical trials, athletics, and hospital systems. We are growing our footprint with leading health systems, clinical research organizations, academic medical centers, and anyone looking to deliver clinical-grade, convenient diagnostic tests to their patients.

We need:

An in-house General Counsel to provide legal advice for strategic and operational decisions and agreements This position will report to the CFO and will be a member of the senior management team.

You are:

An experienced General Counsel primed to lead our legal function and be a key business partner to our commercial, product and clinical teams. You have a strong background in healthcare law, particularly in regulatory law, negotiating commercial contracts and advising internal teams on product development.

 You will:
  • Partner with all areas of the business, including Commercial, Product, Clinical, Human Resources and Finance to advise on legal implications of corporate strategies and the development of new products and services.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements with commercial partners.
  • Manage the Company's corporate legal activities, including employment, corporate governance, regulatory, employee equity plans and other corporate matters.
  • Act as a key legal advisor on major business transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and capital raises.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance and legal matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation, as necessary.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage external counsel.
You bring:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in Washington state.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant corporate legal experience, with substantial experience in medical devices/life sciences.
  • Deep understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment, including FDA regulations.
  • Previous experience in a venture capital back startup, including fundraising, is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to think strategically, prioritize, communicate, collaborate, promote desired culture, and build trust.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and legal analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to lead a legal function and work collaboratively with other departments.
