Who We Are
Tasso is a fast-growing Seattle-based startup focused on delivering at-home diagnostic testing to those who need it most. We are growing our footprint with leading health systems, clinical research organizations, academic medical centers, and more who are looking to deliver clinical-grade, convenient diagnostic tests to their patients. Tasso was originally founded to find a better way to collect blood instead of a painful fingerstick or time-consuming venous draw. Since then, our products have been used in pharmaceutical clinical trials, by Olympians as part of a new virtual anti-doping program, and broadly by hospital systems across the US.
We are looking for a Senior Development Engineer who leads with interest, drives innovation from concept to commercial product, and raises the bar for the engineering team around them. This is a design-first role for someone who thrives in early-stage ambiguity and takes personal ownership for turning bold ideas into manufacturable reality. This position will report to our Senior Director of Engineering. An ideal candidate will have at a minimum,10 years’ experience in Medical Device Design and Development.
What You Will Do
Innovate, Design & Deliver

  • Champion early-stage concept exploration — generate ideas, assess feasibility fast, and drive rapid iteration to find the best path before committing to detailed design
  • Lead injection molded component design for high-volume production; apply deep DFM knowledge to optimize geometry, tooling strategy, tolerances, and materials from day one
  • Own the design from inception to transfer: solid models, drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, dFMEAs, test methods, and documentation through V&V and into production
  • Prototype constantly — 3D printing, machining, proto-molds — prove concepts quickly, close design gaps with urgency, and keep the design moving
  • Anticipate risks before they become program problems; surface issues early, drive decisions, and maintain momentum
Engineering Champion
  • Be the technical anchor — set the standard for design quality, engineering judgment, and creative problem solving on the team
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians through hands-on design reviews, direct coaching, and genuine investment in their growth
  • Champion engineering capabilities across the organization — advocate for what the team can do and make engineering’s contributions visible
  • Own your projects end to end: set the pace, manage the schedule, represent engineering’s perspective confidently across QA, Regulatory, Clinical, and Operations, and deliver

Who You Are
  • 10+ years in medical device development with a proven track record from early-stage concept through commercial launch
  • Proven track record advancing concepts into commercially released medical devices
  • Deep injection mold design experience for high-volume production — you know tooling, draft, wall thickness, gate location, and what happens when you get it wrong
  • Strong electro-mechanical design experience
  • Strong SolidWorks and GD&T proficiency; experience designing electro-mechanical, disposable, and durable medical products
  • Comfortable with early-stage ambiguity — you can work from a performance target or market need and turn it into a design direction
  • Proactive leader who raises the technical level of the people around you and represents engineering with confidence
  • Working knowledge of 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971 — able to operate within a design control framework as a contributing team member
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with FEA/CFD, regulatory submissions (510(k), PMA, EU MDR/IVDR), or Arena QMS

What We Offer
$135,000/yr - $165,000/yr base salary + Stock Options
We offer competitive compensation, benefits and a fantastic work environment:
  • 95% paid Medical, 100% Dental & Vision for employees and a generous subsidy for dependents
  • 11 Paid Holidays and generous Time Off policies
  • 401K + Employer Match
  • Paid parental leave policy
  • This is an onsite role

We have a strong healthcare-driven mission, and your guidance and efforts will directly link to our success.  We embrace diversity and equal opportunity and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be for it.
